Dom & Ink Interview

Hey,

It’s Jess here and whilst my fabulous team have been grafting away to give you amazing blogs I have been busy with new ideas  for Jecca Blac. Its exciting times and I have so much I want to share with you all.
Sharing is an important part of what we at Jecca Blac do and today I’m going to write a blog post about the one subject I get asked a lot ….’what’s it like being an entrepreneur’. Well I know that I wouldn’t change a thing! …
I live/love my business, I’m so lucky. Everyday I look forward to working with my team and thinking of new ideas, …listening to (you) my audience and your needs. Don’t get me wrong there have been times when I have had sleepless nights and I could write a book about raising investment!
Anyway enough about me. As I said earlier , I get that question asked a lot so today I’m going to ask it! ..I am very excited to introduce you all to a very talented, creative person who has actually written a book!

Please put your hands together for the amazing Dom & Ink (Insta him). I am so pleased that Dom allowed me to interview him for this blog. I first came across Dom on Instagram and now we catch up over coffee and plan exciting things together (wait until November hehe). I was so inspired by Dom’s Instagram approach and how he separates himself from noise by giving nothing but love on his page. If you are ever in need for motivation, check out Dom & Ink illustrations (I have them hanging on my bedroom wall).

How would you describe being a sole founder in three words?

Dom: Empowering, Exciting and Unpredictable!

How do you motivate yourself when things aren’t going too well?

Dom: I usually make sure I take time to create illustrations for me, draw what I want to draw. You spend a lot of time drawing what client’s want and I think it’s really important for creatives to always remind themselves of what they love to create. Once I’ve done that, it reminds me why I’m doing what I do and why I love it so much!

Where do you get your inspiration from?

Dom: I get a lot of inspiration, and this very cliche, from Instagram. However, I’ve always been a huge fan of graphic novels and comic books so I always find myself going through their pages and getting ideas by the minute!

Have you ever considered going back to working for someone else?

Dom: Not really. I think when you’re freelance, you make sure you hustle and hustle so that doesn’t happen. I think if I craved a 9-5 routine I would, but I really don’t. Going full-time freelance was and IS the best thing I have ever done.

What would you say to an entrepreneur that is just starting out?

Dom: Listen to your own voice. You know your brand and what you want for the future of it. Always be thankful for opportunities but also PICK those opportunities wisely, not every job is worth your time and the money for it. Think how you want to be represented as a brand or company now AND in ten years time. Always think BIG.
