Biggest Books By Trans Writers Throughout 2021!

Hello!

Today we're sharing with you all a very exciting list of books which have either already come out during 2021, or are due to come out this year!

In a time when the trans+ community has continued to be silenced by the mass media, it is essential that space is made for voices to be heard and for trans+ people to be able to curate their own narratives, from their own perspectives.

A huge congratulations to all of the writers in this list who have reclaimed their power and continue to inspire us by their strength, talent and drive to be heard.

In no particular order, enjoy this reading list - including links to order/pre-order each book, all of which we anticipate to be a thrilling read!

The Transgender Issue, by Shon Faye - Click here to pre order on Waterstones (release date: 2nd September 2021)

"Trans people in Britain today have become a culture war 'issue'. Despite making up less than one per cent of the country's population, they are the subjects of a toxic and increasingly polarized 'debate' which generates reliable controversy for newspapers and talk shows. This media frenzy conceals a simple fact: that we are having the wrong conversation, a conversation in which trans people themselves are reduced to a talking point and denied a meaningful voice."

What's The T, by Juno Dawson - click here to order on Waterstones - Released February 2021

"A frank, funny and enlightening companion volume to This Book is Gay, What’s the T? gathers together advice and testimony from leading trans and non-binary figures in a vitally important and practical guide. Curated with wit and compassion by Juno Dawson, this is an essential read for all young transgender and non-binary persons."

What It Feels Like For A Girl, by Paris Lees - click here to pre order on Waterstones (Release date: 27th May 2021)

"Thirteen-year-old Byron needs to get away, and doesn't care how. Sick of being beaten up by lads for 'talkin' like a poof' after school. Sick of dad - the weightlifting, womanising Gaz - and Mam, who selfishly pissed off to Turkey like Shirley Valentine. Sick of the people who shuffle about Hucknall like the living dead, going on about kitchens they're too skint to do up and marriages they're too scared to leave."

Detransition, Baby, by Torrey Peters - click here to order on Waterstones (released January 2021)

"Navigating the complicated waters of family-making and motherhood in the twenty-first century, this exciting and very funny debut follows the lives of three trans and cis women living in New York."
